Aston Martin Zagato coupe 1986

By Cult scale models

Scale 1/18

The Aston Martin Zagato of 1986 was inspired by the original cooperation between the two companies which resulted in the DB4 GT Zagato. Its first official outing was at the 1986 Geneva Motor Show. All 50 cars of the limited run sold directly just on the basis of drawings and a scale model. Sure it is not hard to see why, because the Aston Martin Zagato or V8 Zagato has a odd but very attractive design. On top of that it was also for a brief moment the fastest production car. Clearly this was the result of its powerful 432 bhp V8 running on Weber twin-choke carburettors. This propelled the car to 300 km/h and 4.9 seconds to 100 km/h. That was enough to beat most of the competitors at that time.

The Aston Martin Zagato coupe was impressively expensive since it was priced at £87,000. But that didn’t hold Aston Martin back because they build another 37 convertible versions (called Volante) which all sold as well mighty quick. The Aston Martin Zagato’s brought a lot of money into the cash strapped company and helped the company to survive.

Because the Zagato coupe is such an important car in the history of Aston Martin and with popularity of the model now more and more rising it seems therefore logical that Cult scale models decided to make a 1/18 model of the V8 Zagato. Cult scale models makes this model in resin with photoetched parts. A true icon that should be in the collection of every petrolhead and Aston Martin owner.
